Q: What is the BEST and AFFORDABLE cappuccino/coffee maker?
I am a struggling college student who lives in a small dorm with a roommate. I love Starbucks coffee but can't afford to buy it everyday. I want to invest in a great and affordable (under $80) cappuccino maker. It should be small, compact and easy to use.
A: The mr.coffee combo maker is da bomb!
$53.00!

Q: Which is the BEST single-cup coffee maker??
I have owned 2 Home Cafe coffee makers, and both were a piece of junk. However, I like the coffee (Millstone) pods that work in that system. I never drink enough coffee to make a pot, so have steered away from traditional coffee makers. I know Home Cafe has a new model (afraid to take my chances) and Senseo has a model. The Senseo system looks like it makes an extremely small cup of coffee. What are your experiences and suggestions?
A: Both Braun (Tassimo) and Krups (HomeCafe) make pretty good pod-based coffee makers. They are more expensive than Black & Decker or Mr Coffee, but the machines are also higher quality and should hold up better. Senseo also makes good quality machines. As for the size of the cups, it can be set to either 4 oz or 8 oz. You'll basically either get a 4 oz cup of very strong coffee (almost espresso) or an 8 oz cup of lighter coffee (more like an americano). One complaint that I've heard about this machine is that the cup clearance is only 3.5" - so you might want to measure your favorite cup before buying it.
The advantage of pod coffee makers is that they are quick and easy with almost no cleanup. However, you have a limited selection of coffees (just those available in pods) and they tend to be more expensive. The other (cheaper) option is to make drip coffee manually. Pick up a cone filter holder (like this one - http://www.melitta.com/cgi-bin/sgin0101.exe?UID=6620041218171171&T1=64+0008 ). Alternatively, you can get a small french press (they come as small as 12 oz volume). The french press tends to make the best coffee. The benefit of these is you won't be limited by the selection of pods and you'll have the option to get fresher coffee. Do be sure to customize your grind for your brewing technique.

Q: How do I use this coffee maker?
Sorry, I am in Costa Rica and have never used one before, we have a basic coffee maker in our room, with a filter, a spout, coffee pot and one single "on/off" button. I bought a small bag of ground coffee that weighs 125gs (probably 2/3 cup) with no directions on it, please help me :(
A: Use 1 rounded tablespoon of coffee for each cup you want to make. Put it inside the filter (paper or permanent filter. Fill the resevoir on the coffee maker with cold water (measure each cup at 8 oz). Close the coffee maker and then turn on the ON button.
Q: bleach in automatic coffee maker?
Is it safe to use a small amount of bleach diluted in water to run through a cycle in my coffee maker? I'd like to thoroughly clean it but I also don't want my coffee to taste like bleach. Does anyone know what ratio to use bleach to water?
A: Use a product called "Dip It ". It is for cleaning coffee makers. If you don't find it in the coffee aisle , check in the cleaning aisle.
Good luck.
Q: where can i find a single cup red coffee maker?
My Aunt wants a single cup coffee maker. All of my mother appliances in her kitchen are red so i need the coffee maker to be red (aunt lives with mother). I have found single cup coffee makers, ones which are even red but i didn't know that i would also have to purchase specific coffee packages such as K-CUPS for single coffee makers. But my aunt like Folgers coffee and i would think that buying single coffee packages would be expensive even if Folgers makes them. My question is is there any single cup coffee makers that i can purchase and use any coffee of my choice, and use regular coffee without packages, and without have to buy expensive small coffee packages? I hope this makes since
A: they dont excist any more
Q: I am looking for coffee pods (prepackaged coffee filters) for a 4 cup coffee maker. Where do you buy them?
My mother has diminished eyesight and can no longer measure the correct amount of coffee and place into the filter. Coffee grounds everywhere!! They have these small packages at hotels and I need to find out where I can buy them. They carry the 12 cups "pods" at the grocery store but nothing for a 4 cup coffee maker. Thanks for you help!!!
A: Did you check back by the coffee makers themselves not in the coffee isle?call the maker of the coffee maker and ask for distribution place?you dont say the brand or i would look it up for you..
Q: Where to buy liquid alchol fuel for my siphon coffee maker in uptown Toronto?
I am also looking for a small gas burner for the same use.
Thank you and happy new year.
A: Try asking for denatured alcohol. Most paint stores or sporting goods stores should carry it.
Q: How do you make the best cup of coffee with your french press????
We have a French Press Coffee Maker (it's small for just 2 cups), my husband got it as a present over ten years ago. I LOVE IT!
However, lately, my coffee just doesn't seem to be as good as it use to. I buy organice coffee that I grind myself. I'm just looking for a better technique for a better coffee??
How do you store your coffee for the best flavor and freshness???
Do you grind your own or is it pre-ground???
Some people have told me not to boil my water, because it scalds the beans??? Is this true?
How many beans is too much? (I normally spoon it 4 large spoons)
How long do you let your coffee before you press it??
I don't know if I forgot something or if it just the way I am making it these days, but my coffee seems too strong and lacking in flavor(which I thought I would never admit). Plus I can't find that ideal taste anymore. Sometimes I feel like it a sludge almost.
I've tried less coffee but it's like water.
Any suggestions???
Thanks!
I grind my beans on a weekly basis at the begining of the week, & store them in a sir tight ceramic containter in the fridge.
Some people say to use the freezer, but I have been told that takes out the oils in the beans.
I'm lost and needing guidence ...!
That was subpose to be "air tight" container ... sorry.
I rinse the coffee press daily and clean it on the weekends.
I will try the vinegar idea with my kettle, that is a good thought.
I use good water for my coffee, so I am content with that.
A: Water quality makes a huge difference in the flavour of coffee.
I'd suggest trying first to clean (or "descale") your kettle, or whatever you use to boil your water. Just fill it with regular white vinegar and bring to a boil. Discard vinegar (or save it to descale another appliance!) and rinse kettle with cold water. Fill with cold water and boil again. Repeat rinsing & boiling with fresh cold water 2 more times.
You can do the same with your coffee maker to remove any kind of buildup in it.
If that doesn't make a difference, try using different water, like filtered (ie: brita) or bottled.
Next I'd try replacing the coffee maker's filter, maybe it's becoming a bit clogged? (although the vinegar process should clean out the filter too).
If none of this works I'd try a different brand of coffee. It's possible that either your tastes have changed, or the producer is having a bad crop season, or maybe the quality of your brand has dropped.
Honestly, there are so many possibilities, I think you just need to play around with all the variables until you find yourself with a fabulous cup of coffee again!
Q: How much coffee do you use for a 3 cup espresso maker?
It is a Moka stovetop espresso maker and it is small. Can I use any kind of coffee? Thanks.
A: Use ground espresso coffee. Regular coffee will not taste right. You can get it at the grocery next to regular coffee.
1tbsp. espresso for every 3oz. water
3c. is a lot since a single serving is usually only 1.5oz.
Q: How to make coffee in the car / mini van?

Q: I am looking for a 6 cup, space saver, coffee maker.?
I want a coffee maker that only makes six or so cups and will mount under the cabinet. It is for use in a RV, so the smaller the better.
A: Check out the Black and Decker coffee makers. another suggestion is those pod coffee makers or the one cups. I sure like the one cups, and my daughter liked the pod thingies.
I also have a 4-cup coffee maker in a travel bag. for longer stays than usual.
Q: I have a Mr. Coffee coffee maker model FTX23. It leaks water when I brew coffee. Why?
There is a small port in the back of the housing that the water comes out of. Have you had this problem and did you fix it?
A: I don't have that model of Mr. Coffee, but if I fill it with too much water it will come out of the little port in the back.
