Q: New Cuisinart coffee maker question?
I have the model with the two little black rotary knobs w/the toggle switch in the middle (stainless). I have experimented w/different measuring levels of coffee on this thing, and can't quite get the perfect cup of coffee, or close to perfect I would say. The instructions are somewhat vague on measuring. I use standard size coffee cups, and usually make only a half a pot. I grind my own coffee as well. Thanks for suggestions!

A: I think I have the same one. You can set the timer, have it beep when brewed, red light/green light, stainless steel carafe, etc. If that is the case, I think I can help. I like to use 1 heaping scoop (tablespoon) per 250 ml(1 cup) water. My friend likes her coffee Starbucks style and uses 2 tablespoons per 250 ml water. The reservoir shows 10 "cups" but after three pots, I finally figured out it is not 10 1-cup measures, but it is 10 "5-oz measures" (really confusing for a Canadian that doesn't know ounces) When I fill the reservoir to the "10" I use 7 heaping tablespoons. If you like your coffee stronger, try 10 tablespoons to start. That makes one full pot. You'll have to look at how close to half you fill it and do the math - maybe start with 5 tablespoons for a half pot. Better to water it down "americano" style than be too weak. If doing half a pot, you can turn the little selector dial to "1-4" That tells it you are doing a smaller pot and it will drip through slower. Might work out better. When you grind your coffee, if it is too coarse, the coffee with be weak. If it is too fine, you will get brown sludge that settles at the bottom of your cup. This coffee maker has worked best for me when I use a grind setting right smack in the middle. Lastly, I had a horrible pot of coffee last week. Looking at the beans after I ground them, I could see they were dryer than usual and light colored, not dark and almost greasy like it usually is.

Q: I have an intermittant problem with my Cuisinart DCC-2000 coffee maker. Most of the time it works fine.?
I have an intermittant problem with my Cuisinart DCC-2000 coffee maker. Most of the time it works fine. But about every third or fourth time, it won’t start perking or it may start after different delays in time. It may start in 2 minutes or in 2 hours or not at all. Any ideas?

A: Any recent overflows? If purchased under a year ago call the manufacturer and request a replacement. Make sure they send a "call-tag" for your old unit, otherwise you'll have to pay the shipping.

Q: Where can I find a review of Cuisinart's coffee maker model CBC-OOWPC?

A: There is a review of of Cuisinart on this site but I don't know if it is this model. Worth checking.

Q: What brand of coffee maker is better-Krups, Cuisinart, or Kenmore ?
I want to purchase a coffee maker- last minute xmas present. There are so many brands and I want something that will last more than a month- HELP!

A: Kenmore ive never had experience with- but their appliances are okay, so im guessing their coffee makers are OKAY too. Cusinart is wonderful for their grind n brew machines. They're so convenient, but the coffee doesn't get as dark as the cone filtered ones do. I also have a regular one from them thats a 4 cup model, and its GREAT for gifts! i got it on sale for 20 dollars at my local macys, so you should definitely check it out. Krups is good with coffee, but their machiens are pretty bulky. Their espresso machines are AMAZING though, so if your in the market for an espresso machine, check them out

Q: Will the Cuisinart Coffee decanter work with the Kenmore coffee maker model DCC-KE12.?
I guess they quit making the Kenmore but it looks a lot like the Cuisinart. thanks

A: Idk. Try Yahoo Consumer Electronics .

Q: Cuisinart Grind & Brew Coffee Maker - Sub a Glass Carafe for the Thermal Carafe?
I bought this for a Xmas gift for my sister. At times, she will prefer a Glass Carafe for when she only makes 3 cups and wants to see whats left. You can't see whats left in the Thermal one. I don't see any reason why she can't use either. Does anyone know for sure?

A: She can absolutely get a glass carafe to replace the thermal one. In fact, I've linked to the replacement glass carafe. She'll need to buy this real Cuisinart-brand replacement glass carafe because it has the specially-designed lid to push up on the little button that allows coffee to freely pour from the brew basket. The only minor down side is that, since the Grind & Brew comes with a thermal carafe, it doesn't have a warming plate on the bottom to keep the carafe warm. This won't cause any problems with making the coffee or using the machine, it just means her coffee will cool down after a while...not a huge deal breaker or anything. Other than that, if she buys this glass replacement carafe, she'll be fine.

Q: I'm having a problem with my Cuisinart DCB-300 coffee maker?
The beans are grinding fine but the water is not leaving the water chamber and filling the carafe. The grounds appear to be wet in the filter but the carafe is empty. The manual nor their website have any troubleshooting information. Can anyone help?

A: I had slow drainage from the filter area when I ground my coffee beans to espresso fineness. Then the water pump broke, and it was bye-bye coffee machine.

Q: Coffee Beans - How long to grind for drip coffee maker?
I recently joined Seattle Coffee Direct and received coffee beans and Cuisinart coffee grinder. I always just bought ground or ground it using the machine at the grocery store. So, I need advice. How many coffee beans do I put in for a pot of coffee? How long do I grind it to get the right grind for my drip coffee maker? How long do I grind for my percolator (yes, I have one of those too).

A: I have a different grinder, so you might need to experiment with yours. I almost fill the grinder cup (leave some room), and grind while counting to 10. This makes just a little more than enough coffee for a 10-pot coffee pot. This is drip. I haven't used a perc in a long time! Hope this helps.

Q: Cleaning Cuisinart chrome-look coffee maker...?
Does anyone have any tips on keeping these looking clean? The outside is a chrome-look plastic and no matter how many times I clean it or what product I use, it's streaky looking! Any tips?? FYI....it is the Cuisinart DCC-1200 model. Thanks!

A: try vinegar. or they have stainless steel cleaner.

Q: Coffee maker problems? My coffee suddenly started tasting funny?
I have a very nice Cuisinart Brew Central Coffee Maker DCC-1200. It's about 4 years old. But I bought some off-brand coffee and it just tasted awful, kindy of watery and strange taste. I thought it was the brand. I bought my regular brand, quality French Roast Maxwell House, but it's still tastes strange -- kind of moldy. I washed out the filter and the plastic holder part under the filter and brewed a pot of hot water and it still tastes that way. Any ideas? Vinegar, thanks guys!

A: Where the hot water/coffee comes out, unscrew the little cap. Get a nylon wire tie approx 8" long and run up the brewing tube, twisting and turning it. As mentioned above, run vinegar through it several times. Flush with fresh water. That should take care of it.
