Q: How many different one cup coffee makers are there?
My mom wants one of those one cup coffee makers. I'm trying to find a decently priced one, but the only one I can find is the Keurig B60 Single Cup Coffee Maker, which is $120.00. I was looking for something a little cheaper. Does anyone have any suggestions?
A: There are three main single serve technologies out there:
1. Coffee Pods - The coffee pod is an open standard. Anyone can make them and anyone can make a pod brewer. Some of the most popular are the Senseo made by Phillips. Prices start around $60 at Target. You will find the most varieties of coffee available in pod form.
2. K-Cups - The K-Kup is used in a Keurig coffee maker like the B60 you found. The K-Cup is patented by Green Mountain Coffee Roasters(they bought Keurig). Keurig controls the entire market.
3. T-Discs - Kraft owns the Tassimo franchise and Bosch is the manufacturer of the new Tassimo system (Braun used to make them). They are priced at $99 or $129 and can make not just coffee but also lattes and espresso drinks.
The most affordable units up front and in the long run (because the coffee is cheaper) are the Pod machines. For example, The Coffee Artisan is selling the Melitta MES5B Pod Brewer and a case of 108 coffee pods for $79.99 with free UPS Ground shipping. Average cost per 8 oz. cup is about 40 cents.
Q: What is a good, not-too-expensive, one cup coffee maker?
We had a black and decker one cup maker - you know, the kind with the little pods - and it was so loud (made this horrendous vibrating noise) and splattered water EVERYWHERE when you used it. We got rid of it and I was just wondering if all these types of coffee makers do this or if ours was defective or just sucked.
Should we bother trying another brand (like the Senseo machine) or just stick with the normal coffee makers. Thanks for your input!
A: the best one I had was a Krupp's and it was called 4cup but that was 20 ounces and I used it as 1 big mug. It lasted 15yrs. Now I have a Mr Coffee 4 cup and it is the same 20 oz. It has automatic timer so coffee is all ready for me in the morning and it was only $19 at Walmart. It is not very loud.
Q: What are the risks of drinking only one cup of coffee per day?
I hear all the cons that come with drinking more than one cup of coffee per day but how about only drinking just one cup in morning everyday? Is there problems with caffeine dependance or any other problems associated with simply drinking only one cup of coffee per day? Please inform me. Thank you.
A: At that level I wouldn't worry about it.
Most studies that show negative health effects from coffee have the subjects consuming a ridiculous amount of coffee each day. The amounts are probably equivalent to drinking 5 gallons of coffee per day!
Q: Is one cup of coffee in the morning good for you?
I remember hearing that a cup of coffee in the morning is GOOD for you, because it starts your metabolism early. My main concern here is if I drink one cup of coffee a day--in the morning, will I become addicted to the caffeine or build up a tolerance? Are there any drawbacks? Thanks in advance!
A: You might build up tolerance, but that's not the same as addiction. It's just that one cup in the morning after six months of having one every AM may not have the same effect on you as it did in the very beginning. You might need 2 cups to get the same effect.
Maybe you won't develop tolerance. It depends on the person. I have one cup of coffee or tea every day (at varying times) and that one cup/day satisfies me. Just be careful with coffee- it sometimes gives people heart palpitations. I have gotten them before and I hate the feeling. Some coffees are stronger than others. The breakfast blends are lighter and smoother. I like those...
Coffee is generally considered safe. Even a lot of pregnant women are permitted to have one cup of coffee/day if that's what they're used to.
Some studies have even demonstrated that moderate coffee drinking (a cup or two daily) has its benefits- good for your brain, for example.
Also consider alternating coffee and tea, green tea for example. I have mostly switched to green tea, actually. I love coffee of course, but tea is healthier. It doesn't irritate the stomach as much as coffee does. I mix a tsp of matcha (green tea power) in a cup of hot water and add soymilk and sugar. I love it :)
Enjoy!!!
Q: Would having one cup of coffee an hour before a blood lipid test alter the results?
Even if it did would it be that much? I recently had a blood test after going from 5 to 10 mg of Crestor and my cholesteral was 3 points higher. I can't believe one small cup of coffee could do that.
A: Yes, having one coffee per hour would alter a blood test as the caffeine would kick in. Just don't have one coffee each hour, like beer, spread them over time.
Q: Will one cup of coffee and 2 bottles of water dilute a drug test?
I am clean for drugs and alcohol and as a matter of habit I drank one cup of coffee and two bottles of water then went for my test over lunch. This is for a new job and now I have heard people who are trying to beat the systems use water to dilute their urine. I do not want my sample coming back diluted because I may miss out on a job and I have nothing to hide.
Is one cup of coffee and two bottles of water enough to dilute urine? The color was a pale yellow - it was not clear.
A: The US Dept. of Transportation allows donors for a urine test to drink up to 40 oz. of water prior to a drug test. Any more than that is considered a "dilute sample". Having said that, most companies do not check for dilution. Most employers check the temperature and color. If you sample was pale yellow as you say and it was within the proper temperature range, and if you have not used drugs, you should be okay!
Q: how much coffee powder do i need for one cup of coffee?
I want to make a cup of coffee but i never know how much you are supposed to add.... and so my coffees are always really really strong.
A: I usually use two level teaspoons for one cup. I brew it right in the cup,
covered with a soucer and then stir, all grounds fall to the bottom.
Q: I have a new 8 cup coffee percolator. Haven't used one in years. What brand of coffee beans should I buy?
I mix 1/2 decaf, 1/2 regular grounds now in a 12 cup electric. I'd like to upgrade from the usual canned stuff.
A: Starbucks beans are over priced. Buy a coffee grinder and experiment with different types of whole beans. It depends on your preference, so try a lot.
Q: How much does one cup of whole coffee beans weigh?
I am decorating for a wedding and filling hurricane glassware with whole coffee beans. I need to know how much one cup of whole coffee beans weigh so I know how big of a bag to buy. Thanks!!!
How much, on average, does one cup of whole coffee beans weigh? They aren't going to be made into actual cups of drinkable coffee. They will be used for wedding centerpieces. (I know it's not 8 oz b/c it's 8 fl. oz. in one cup.)
A: OK, I went home and weighed it for you.
One cup 10.7oz or just under 2/3lb

Q: Has anyone tried that new Keurig one cup coffee maker?
I see it has a lot of flavors to go with it, but is the coffee strong enough out of those little individual packages? I like mine strong, strong enough to stand a spoon up in.
A: Our dentist's office has one for everyone to use. I love it. I wouldn't say the coffee is overly strong though. I do think it's the greatest creation since sliced bread! There are several brands out now so you can actually shop for a good price.
The only way you can really make your coffee strong is to make it yourself. I don't think this brew will hold your spoon up! :-)
Q: i purchased a coffee cup that i was told came from bubble gum company long ago does any one know about these?
They are little coffee cups with leaves on them. Some of the leaves are gold and some have color to them all the same cup. There is also a leaf inside the cup.
A: I bet you could ask Martha Stewart. Just *google* the name and it will take you to her website.
If she doesn't know I bet she could find out. She collects all sorts of dishes and antiques.
Q: What is the most accurate ratio of caffeine contained in one cup of tea to one cup of coffee?
Assume:
1 12oz cup of : Strong black tea VS regular coffee
A: Black tea has about 25% caffeine content in comparison to coffee.
Q: If I Drink One Cup of Coffee A Day, Should I Be Worried About Losing Calcium In My Bone?
I know that if you drink a lot of caffeine it can weaken your bones but would one cup of coffee a day do that?
I guess i have more than one bone.
A: =) No, that's a very minimal amount of caffeine. If you have a lot of other sources of caffeine in your diet--sodas, etc.-- then perhaps you should cut back a little. But one cup per day isn't going to cause any lasting damage.
That said, you should always eat enough dairy and produce to make sure you're getting enough calcium. If you feel your diet is lacking or just want some extra insurance, there are calcium vitamin supplements available in drugstores.
Q: Is one cup of coffee a day safe during pregnancy?
I have read that caffeine is okay as long as you keep it under 300mg. But after reading a question on here yesterday, i am paranoid! I'm having a really hard time giving up my coffee! I only ever drink one per day, and I think this is safe. I would appreciate solid information based on knowledge.
A: You are 100% correct. Caffeine in moderation is considered "safe". I think its actually 250mg a day, but I'll check for you. None the less, 1 cup of coffee a day is OK. You could switch to de-caff if that would help you feel better.

This site says 200mg. Still, one cup of coffee is fine. I've seen a website that suggests any consumption of caffeine can increase your chances of a miscarriage, but I really just think its a scare tactic. Just go with your gut.
Q: one cup of coffee can do this?
i drunk a cup of coffee which i dont normally do. maybe it was too cups idk but a lil after i drunk it i felt unusually full of energy maybe hyper. i drunk it so i wouldnt feel sleepy in school. that coffee really helps. it better than watered down gaterade. why do coffee make you so hyper.

A: after you drunk it? lmao! its just the amount of caffine yes coffee does this
